TL;DR
Systems Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace): Developing manufacturing documentation, tooling instructions, and integration support for electrical, avionics, and payload systems on reusable hypersonic vehicles with an accent on aerospace production processes, system interfaces, and shop-floor troubleshooting. Focus on creating test procedures, integrating complex vehicle systems, and resolving electrical and electromechanical issues during fabrication and testing.

Location: On-site in Mojave, California, United States; travel estimated at less than 5% as needed.

Base salary: $98,100–$128,700 for Level II, $117,000–$153,500 for Senior Level, or $152,500–$200,000 for Staff Level, annually.

What you will do

  • Create work instructions, drawings, and tooling documentation for fabricating, installing, modifying, and testing vehicle and payload systems.
  • Support electrical, avionics, electromechanical, and ground-test integration, including troubleshooting documentation and system issues.
  • Act as the engineering liaison for production technicians, providing real-time shop-floor guidance and redlining released documentation.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, and ATP documentation for system functionality and integrated hypersonic vehicle testing.
  • Evaluate technical data, producibility, fabrication time, cost, and schedule across design, purchasing, manufacturing, integration, and testing.
  • Contribute to shop layout, setup, process improvement, and aerospace manufacturing standardization.

Requirements

  • Experience with vehicle systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrotechnical systems, or flight controls for experimental aircraft or launch vehicles.
  • Experience creating aerospace production drawings, work orders, and shop work instructions.
  • Experience with PDM, engineering change control, revision control, and release processes.
  • Experience integrating aircraft or launch-vehicle electrical power systems and installing aircraft mechanical systems or payloads.
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatic, electromechanical, hydraulic, and manufacturing techniques, plus oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; an active clearance is preferred.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Siemens Capital/Mentor Graphics, NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, LabVIEW, or Jira.
  • 3D CAD modeling experience and familiarity with configuration-management systems.
