Senior Specialist, Vehicle Systems (Automotive)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office. Regular in-person meetings and occasional business travel are required.

Salary: $140,000–$170,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Drive System-V requirements and deliverables for Software Defined Vehicle features and functions.
• Lead requirements, electrical engineering, and embedded software integration across prototype, pre-production, and production builds.
• Manage ECU and vehicle-network integration across CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet, diagnostics, flashing, bootloaders, and software updates.
• Coordinate SIL, HIL, and full-vehicle integration testing, including test automation and regression coverage using tools such as dSPACE, Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, ETAS LABCAR, and NI Veristand.
• Track system performance, network load, power consumption, timing, open issues, root causes, change management, and software integrity.
• Coordinate engineering and supplier teams, communicate integration-readiness metrics, and prepare gate-review documentation covering maturity and risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with 8+ years of experience.
• Strong understanding of vehicle E/E architecture, ECU-level software stacks, CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet, UDS diagnostics, and vehicle-network tools.
• Experience developing and verifying plant and control models in MATLAB/Simulink for hardware-in-the-loop testing with dSPACE ControlDesk and AutomationDesk.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, electrical and electronic systems architecture, automotive development processes, system requirements, and engineering best practices.
• Knowledge of ASIL-level software validation and ISO 26262 compliance, along with FMEA and DFMEA activities.
• Strong complex problem-solving, data-analysis, collaboration, and technical communication skills.
