Staff Product Development Engineer (Additive Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in Newburyport, Massachusetts, with occasional travel to the Devens, Massachusetts facility

Salary: $124,800–$171,600 annual base salary, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Own customer products from initial concept through serial production.
• Develop additive, post-processing, machining, and finishing processes that maximize customer value and production efficiency.
• Evaluate early-stage opportunities, define new product introduction paths, and keep technical development on track.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing principles and coordinate with automation, machining, finishing, quality, and external vendor teams.
• Support metrology selection, First Article Inspections, production launches, change orders, and factory throughput.
• Investigate complex part defects, implement corrective and preventive actions, and improve product development processes.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in product or applications development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Expert proficiency in advanced 3D CAD software such as Siemens NX, Creo, or SolidWorks.
• Deep mastery of GD&T, statistical process capability, tolerance stack-up analysis, and complex DFM/DfAM constraints.
• Strong knowledge of subtractive manufacturing operations, including 5-axis milling, turning, and EDM, and their integration with additive workflows.
• Leadership and communication skills to influence technical roadmaps, align multidisciplinary stakeholders, and mentor engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with LPBF or similar additive manufacturing technologies.
• Experience with build-preparation tools such as Magics, nTopology, or Amphyon.
