Associate Specialist, Patient Access (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Ardent - Mountainside in Montclair, New Jersey, United States. Morning shift: 6 AM to 6 PM, including every other weekend.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform hospital admitting and patient pre-registration duties, including assigning medical record numbers and processing physician orders.
• Collect and verify demographic, insurance, and financial information, including point-of-service and past-due balance payments.
• Complete medical necessity and compliance checks using ABN software and distribute required patient forms and educational documents.
• Explain treatment consents and other forms, obtain signatures, and provide compassionate customer service.
• Review insurance eligibility and benefit data to support billing processes and clean claim rates.
• Audit accounts, maintain accurate documentation, operate the telephone switchboard, and provide reporting data to Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Inquisitive mindset and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvements.
• Ability to work onsite in Montclair, NJ on the 6 AM–6 PM morning shift with every other weekend.
• CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
