TL;DR
Development Fabrication Technician (Nuclear): Building and assembling test stands, fluid systems, fixtures, support equipment, and test articles for nuclear-fuel hardware with an accent on welding, machining, precision mechanical assembly, and fluid-system fabrication. Focus on reading engineering drawings and GD&T, fabricating pneumatic, hydraulic, and cryogenic systems, and supporting hardware testing in a high-reliability development environment.

What you will do

  • Fabricate and assemble test stands, fixtures, support equipment, and test articles from engineering drawings and concept sketches.
  • Perform TIG/MIG welding, including preparation, fitting, tacking, finishing, and inspection.
  • Build and install pneumatic, hydraulic, and cryogenic tube and fluid-system hardware, including fittings, flexible lines, and supports.
  • Machine and modify parts using manual mills, lathes, drilling equipment, and CNC machinery.
  • Complete precision mechanical assembly, including fastening, torqueing, alignment, and rigging of test hardware.
  • Support test setup and execution while providing fabrication feedback and design-for-manufacturability improvements to engineering.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in a technician or development support role.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools and at least one core fabrication discipline: welding, machining, fluid-system fabrication, structural or mechanical assembly, or electrical build.
  • Ability to read and build from engineering drawings, GD&T, and fluid or electrical schematics.
  • Ability to stand, lift, and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Availability to work required shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, organized, and FOD-controlled work area.

Nice to have

  • Experience fabricating test stands, support equipment, or pressurized or vacuum fluid systems in aerospace or automotive environments.
  • Familiarity with test instrumentation, Lean/Kaizen principles, and cross-functional assembly.
  • Experience with cleanliness and quality requirements for flight, nuclear, or other high-reliability hardware.
