Build Technician (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Fabricate prototypes and assemble, operate, and test complex mechanical and electrical hardware.
• Collaborate with engineering, test, and production teams to meet specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and delivery milestones.
• Improve designs through rapid iteration and provide manufacturing input during design reviews.
• Develop and document best practices for machining, fabrication, assembly, and quality inspection.
• Identify technical issues, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement.
• Support critical system testing and validation, including occasional off-site travel, and train technicians on new processes and tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a high-performance manufacturing or R&D environment.
• Experience in several areas including fabrication, machining, welding, pneumatic or hydraulic systems, test processes, or test stand development.
• Strong understanding of aerospace-grade production and quality standards, with experience enforcing them.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work long hours and weekends when necessary to support critical milestones.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

Nice to have

• Experience developing complex systems from scratch and creating their manufacturing processes.
• Experience in aerospace, nuclear, defense, or advanced manufacturing.
• Knowledge of process optimization and lean manufacturing principles.
• Familiarity with PLM, ERP, and manufacturing planning systems.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, leadership, and team coordination skills.
