Build Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Huntington Beach, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $105,000–$140,000 for Engineer or $140,000–$180,000 for Senior Engineer per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Own prototype builds across multiple products and prove design concepts through initial manufacturing.
• Translate design intent into practical build steps, processes, and technician checklists.
• Debug design and manufacturability issues with product and design engineers.
• Participate in design reviews to improve manufacturability, cost efficiency, and reliability.
• Source quick-turn parts and prototype tooling while capturing lessons learned for design and production.
• Partner with technicians on training, standard work, safety, and ergonomics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in production manufacturing, process engineering, or industrialization; internships and school projects qualify.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and process capability.
• Hands-on experience with machining, welding, composites, additive manufacturing, assembly, or testing.
• Willingness to work on the floor daily alongside technicians in an on-site role.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or other high-rate production environments.
• Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous situations with minimal documentation.
• A bias for speed and a “get it built” mindset.
