Principal IT Engineer - Networking

Location: Hybrid, with regular onsite presence in Somerset, NJ or Austin, TX, USA

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 annual base salary

What you will do

• Design, configure, operate, and optimize Cisco and Meraki wireless LAN environments, including controllers, access points, SSIDs, guest access, segmentation, and wireless security.
• Plan RF designs, validate wireless changes through surveys and spectrum analysis, and lead root-cause analysis for complex connectivity and authentication issues.
• Design and maintain enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure across campus and branch locations using routing, switching, high-availability, and resiliency technologies.
• Lead network incident triage, escalation, resolution, preventative actions, monitoring improvements, and operational health checks.
• Execute upgrades and configuration changes through ServiceNow-based change-management processes, including risk assessment, implementation planning, and backout procedures.
• Automate repeatable tasks and reporting with scripts and APIs, maintain network documentation and standards, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Expert-level troubleshooting across Layer 2 and Layer 3 enterprise networks, with advanced wired and wireless design and operations experience.
• Demonstrated experience with Cisco and/or Meraki wired and wireless environments, routing, switching, network resiliency, and high availability.
• Proficiency with 802.1X, RADIUS/TACACS+, Cisco ISE integrations, network segmentation, firewalls, NAT, VPN, and traffic analysis.
• Knowledge of cloud networking, including VPC/VNet design, routing, VPN connectivity, and security controls.
• Ability to use telemetry and monitoring tools, IT service-management processes, and scripting or APIs with PowerShell or Python.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant work experience, plus 10+ years of hands-on enterprise network engineering experience.

Nice to have

• Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP, or Meraki CMNA.
• Enterprise Cisco ISE design and policy administration experience.
• Experience conducting wireless surveys and using RF and spectrum analysis tools.
• Experience with network automation, configuration management, or infrastructure tooling.
