Engineering Manager (SaaS)

Location: Remote from any US location outside California, or hybrid from offices in New Orleans or Portland

Salary: $145,000–$155,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead and mentor engineers, overseeing output, technical decisions, priorities, career development, and retention.
• Guide architectural decisions and support technical excellence across the team.
• Partner with engineering leadership, product management, design, and customer success to deliver the product roadmap.
• Own execution from planning and prioritization through delivery, including scope decisions, blocker removal, and production support escalations.
• Drive testing, quality gates, CI/CD improvements, and engineering best practices with DevOps.
• Track KPIs, cycle time, work in progress, and velocity to improve delivery health; participate in hiring and manage performance and development conversations.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience leading engineering teams in SaaS software companies, including direct people management.
• Working knowledge of at least one of Elixir, React, React Native, or AWS.
• Experience leading Agile or Kanban/Lean teams and improving velocity, quality, or delivery timelines.
• Experience scoping, planning, and shipping software consistently, including managing projects end to end in ambiguous environments.
• Strong communication skills for translating technical context to non-technical stakeholders and collaborating cross-functionally.
• Familiarity with instrumentation, observability, and engineering performance tooling; comfort in a startup or high-growth environment.
