TL;DR
Lead Engineer - Vehicle SW Package + SW Builds (Automotive): Building and compiling complete vehicle software packages for Software Defined Vehicle platforms with an accent on deterministic builds, ECU artifact integration, traceability, and flashable vehicle images. Focus on manifest-driven compilation, CI/CD automation, multi-variant packaging, artifact integrity, and compatibility validation across distributed automotive systems.

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; requires 4–5 days per week in the office, regular in-person meetings, events, and occasional travel.

Salary: $160,000–$192,500 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Own end-to-end vehicle software build and compilation pipelines for Software Defined Vehicle platforms.
  • Compile and assemble ECU binaries, calibration artifacts, configuration manifests, feature flags, diagnostics, and service packages into integrated, flashable vehicle images.
  • Build reproducible packages for vehicle variants, hardware versions, lab cars, HIL/SIL environments, OTA delivery, and production.
  • Integrate vehicle build systems with CI/CD pipelines and implement validation gates for compilation success, artifact completeness, compatibility, and package consistency.
  • Manage artifact repositories, lifecycle policies, versioning, access control, retention, hashing, checksums, signing, encryption, and provenance tracking.
  • Lead technical arbitration, structured problem solving, and milestone ownership in high-pressure launch environments.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with 12+ years of experience.
  • Strong experience in build compilation, software packaging, or vehicle-level software assembly systems.
  • Deep understanding of embedded ECU ecosystems, distributed automotive architectures, and embedded software and electrical/electronic systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps, plus Git workflows, artifact management, and version control.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills with Python, Bash, or Groovy; expertise with Jira, GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
  • Knowledge of automotive development processes, system requirements, and communication protocols including A2B, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, and LVDS; familiarity with CANalyzer or CANoe.
