Senior Engineer, Analytical & Characterization Engineering

What you will do

• Manage daily operations of the TEM and FIB laboratory, maintaining equipment uptime, operational efficiency, and safety compliance.
• Plan preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs, calibration, upgrades, vendors, and service engineers.
• Supervise, guide, and train laboratory technicians on sample preparation and analysis.
• Perform and support failure analysis, delivering accurate analytical results to cross-functional teams.
• Prepare and review failure-analysis reports, characterization data, and technical documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement in analytical capabilities and turnaround time while maintaining sample and record integrity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience operating TEM and/or FIB instruments.
• Experience with TEM bright-field and dark-field imaging, diffraction analysis, and EDS/EELS spectroscopy.
• Experience with FIB cross-sectioning and TEM lamella preparation.
• Familiarity with SEM, HDD component materials, failure mechanisms, or technician supervision.
• Ability to translate analytical data into clear engineering recommendations.
