Staff Product Development Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Onsite at the Penang SDSM Office in Batu Kawan, Malaysia

What you will do

• Lead product development from pre-silicon design through first silicon, qualification, and production.
• Develop wafer-test strategies, test flows, screening methodologies, product specifications, and test algorithms.
• Perform electrical and functional failure analysis, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design, device, manufacturing, quality, system, and firmware teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Monitor quality and reliability metrics, driving process optimization and continuous improvement.
• Mentor engineers, communicate technical recommendations to leadership, and manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on product development engineering experience, including troubleshooting and failure analysis.
• Strong knowledge of electrical failure analysis, root-cause diagnosis, corrective actions, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
• Experience managing the product lifecycle from design through qualification and production.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills required.
• Leadership, mentoring, project management, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration experience; AI tools knowledge is required.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Semiconductor or memory product development experience, especially wafer development, failure modes, test flows, requirements, and scripting.
• Knowledge of system architecture, firmware principles, device physics, DFM, DFT, and DPPM improvement.
• Experience with advanced testing equipment, regional manufacturing standards, roadmap development, or geographically distributed engineering teams.
