Senior Process Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: Oak Ridge, Tennessee, United States. Onsite work required 5 days a week at 151 Lafayette Drive. Standard schedule is 8:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday–Friday. Travel up to 10% as needed.

Salary: $185,000–$215,000 per year, base salary.

What you will do

• Design, procure, install, and operate multiple process areas for nuclear fuel and materials manufacturing.
• Develop equipment specifications, plan layouts, and coordinate design, construction, delivery, and installation with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Research and improve manufacturing processes, translating lab-scale processes to pilot and production scales with the R&D team.
• Develop safe methods for processing and handling solid, liquid, and gaseous chemicals and materials.
• Monitor production performance, troubleshoot process-control variances, and implement recommendations to improve efficiency and quality.
• Establish safety controls, environmental compliance procedures, and support waste permitting with the regulatory team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Typically 20 years of engineering experience; a master’s or Ph.D. may substitute for part of the experience requirement.
• CAD and P&ID experience, plus experience designing, procuring, installing, and operating industrial equipment.
• Extensive experience with powder processing, graphite powder, extrusion, ceramics, chemical processing, industrial waste processing, and liquids processing.
• Experience in nuclear engineering, chemical processing, and nuclear fuel manufacturing.
• Must work onsite in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, five days per week.
