Senior Process Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: Torrance, California, United States. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Salary: $144,000–$176,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Own helium process system design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, commissioning, and operation.
• Lead manufacturing execution, including vendor selection, fabrication oversight, inspections, issue resolution, and acceptance testing.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, equipment and piping specifications, operating procedures, and engineering calculations.
• Perform mass and energy balances, pressure-drop, heat-transfer, equipment-sizing, gas-flow, and transient-system analyses.
• Specify and integrate pressure vessels, heat exchangers, adsorption systems, compressors, valves, piping, instrumentation, and gas analyzers.
• Lead system integration, installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and collaboration with manufacturers and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Nuclear, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience designing industrial process, gas-handling, thermal-fluid, or energy systems.
• Experience delivering complex engineered systems from concept through commissioning or operational deployment.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, process engineering, instrumentation, process controls, and gas analysis.
• Experience developing PFDs, P&IDs, process calculations, equipment specifications, and operating procedures.
• Excellent technical communication, documentation, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with helium, cryogenic, high-pressure gas, gas purification, vacuum, or high-temperature process systems.
• Experience with HTGRs, advanced reactor technologies, nuclear energy systems, or helium coolant chemistry.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, HAZOPs, FMEAs, and system safety analyses.
• Hands-on experience commissioning, starting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing first-of-a-kind process systems.
• Master’s degree in a related engineering field.
