TL;DR
Fuel Handling Resident Engineer (Nuclear): Overseeing the design, fabrication, testing, and delivery of nuclear fuel handling systems and equipment for the Natrium Generation IV Reactor with an accent on supplier coordination, equipment qualification, and design-code compliance. Focus on developing 3D CAD models and engineering documentation, defining testing programs, and evaluating system performance during on-site supplier activities.

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; regular on-site support at Teledyne Brown Engineering is required. Travel is expected at 0–10%.

Salary: $141,385–$212,079 per year.

What you will do

  • Oversee supplier design and delivery of nuclear fuel handling systems from requirements through final equipment delivery.
  • Coordinate and review supplier design and fabrication work, including regular on-site support in Huntsville.
  • Support the design, fabrication, construction, testing, and qualification of systems and equipment.
  • Develop 3D CAD models, engineering calculations, requirements, system design descriptions, and interface control documents.
  • Apply relevant ASME, ANS, ASTM, ASHRAE, IEEE, NFPA, BTH-1, and regulatory requirements.
  • Define testing programs and support test execution, results evaluation, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • At least 10 years of design experience.
  • Experience in system and equipment design and qualification.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, communication, teamwork, and integrity.
  • Nuclear industry experience under an ASME NQA-1 quality program is preferred.
  • The position is subject to ANSI/ANS 3.1 qualification requirements and U.S. Government export-control review.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III or Section VIII.
  • Experience in system and equipment operation, maintenance, and fabrication.
