Data Governance and Protection Officer (AI)

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and maintain the APAC Data Protection and Privacy Framework in alignment with global GIDS standards.
• Lead Privacy Impact Assessments and data risk assessments, overseeing privacy risks, incidents, and control effectiveness.
• Advise Product, Technology, Business, and Transformation teams on privacy-by-design, data handling, cross-border transfers, and regulatory obligations.
• Assess and govern the use of AI and emerging technologies, supporting responsible AI adoption and ethical data use.
• Oversee privacy incidents, breaches, regulatory reporting, audits, governance forums, and assurance activities.
• Develop privacy training and awareness programs and report to APAC Risk & Compliance leadership and the global Data Protection Office.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in data protection, privacy, or data governance, preferably in financial services.
• Strong knowledge of the Australian Privacy Act, Australian Privacy Principles, and APAC privacy regimes.
• Experience with data governance and protection frameworks, privacy risk assessments, and regulatory expectations in outsourcing or financial services environments.
• Experience supporting product development and technology change, with familiarity with AI governance, data ethics, and emerging technology risks.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing, communication, strategic judgment, and risk-based decision-making skills.
• Ability to work across regional and global teams and translate regulatory requirements into practical outcomes.

Nice to have

• Relevant qualifications or certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, Law, Risk, or Compliance.
