Engineering Manager: Core Applications Platform

hirify.global Automation builds a Git-powered version control and change management platform for industrial automation, serving manufacturing, oil and gas, and critical infrastructure customers.

What you will do

• Build and lead a new team of approximately four senior full-stack engineers, including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and performance management.
• Define the team charter, ownership boundaries, engagement models, roadmap, and delivery milestones with Engineering, Product, and Design leadership.
• Develop reusable, well-documented platform capabilities for internal product teams and measure adoption and impact.
• Guide the architecture of shared frontend frameworks, backend services, APIs, and multi-tenant application primitives.
• Provide architectural input, code reviews, and occasional hands-on contributions.
• Own engineering practices including CI/CD, testing standards, ADRs, on-call processes, and incident response runbooks.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.
• At least 1–2 years of formal or informal people leadership experience, such as technical lead, team lead, or direct management.
• Strong technical foundation across frontend, backend, APIs, and data, with experience designing shared application capabilities.
• Experience delivering internal platforms, SDKs, design systems, frameworks, shared services, or developer tools for engineers as end users.
• Ability to coach engineers, communicate with technical and executive stakeholders, and make sound prioritization and scope decisions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience starting a new engineering team, defining its charter, and hiring its first engineers.
• Experience with TypeScript, Node, React, Go, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS, or Datadog.
• Familiarity with multi-tenant architecture, identity and authorization patterns, feature flags, and shared application primitives.
• Experience improving incident response, on-call, ADRs, code review standards, or career ladders.
• Background in B2B SaaS, developer tools, industrial automation, operational technology, manufacturing software, or IoT.
