Engineering Leader (AI)

Location: New York, United States; leadership of the Toronto engineering site

Salary: $210,000–$400,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Shape the technical direction of AI-native, enterprise-grade products.
• Design the evolution of agent infrastructure while balancing speed, reliability, and complexity.
• Own ambiguous, high-stakes technical projects and drive company-wide technical initiatives.
• Set standards for code review, system design, and operational excellence through hands-on engineering.
• Hire an engineering team and lead the Toronto site.
• Mentor engineers through collaboration and formal management.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience and a track record of leading complex projects.
• Previous experience hiring teams from scratch.
• Ability to define technical approaches for vague problems and explain architectural trade-offs.
• Excellent coding skills and a high standard for engineering quality.
• Experience building systems that scale and understanding failure points at different orders of magnitude.
• Hands-on experience with Python, Django or FastAPI, TypeScript, Node, AWS, Modal, Kubernetes, Postgres, and familiarity with Next.js.
