Data Center Engineer

Location: San Mateo, California, United States. Office-based roles require onsite attendance Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday. International and domestic travel may be required for 25% of the time and up to 50% depending on business needs.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain Core/Edge data center, server, network, power, and environmental infrastructure.
• Track and mitigate systemic issues that prevent hosts from returning to service.
• Perform root cause analysis and recommend automation improvements to prevent recurring problems.
• Establish best practices and maintain runbooks, SOPs, MOPs, and operational standards for data center activities.
• Partner with engineering teams to automate maintenance actions that do not require physical intervention.
• Coordinate vendors, support outsourced projects, and participate in the critical infrastructure on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in large-scale data center infrastructure environments.
• Experience planning, executing, and documenting repairs involving servers and networking equipment.
• Extensive experience installing, monitoring, maintaining, and provisioning server and network equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and network hardware.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, troubleshoot complex issues, and develop operational processes.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.
