TL;DR
Systems Engineer, Industrial Infrastructure (SCADA/OT): Owning the infrastructure beneath a 24/7 industrial SCADA environment, including gateways, clustered applications, databases, historians, and plant-to-enterprise data paths with an accent on resilience, high availability, and hybrid-cloud operations. Focus on designing multi-site architectures, validating backups and disaster recovery, troubleshooting OPC and OT pipelines, and maintaining mission-critical manufacturing systems.
Location: McCarran, Nevada, United States; periodic travel to Redwood sites and colocations, including international travel, with up to 10% travel.

What you will do
- Administer and own the SCADA platform, including gateway configuration, upgrades, version management, clustering, redundancy, licensing, and backup and restore procedures.
- Manage the SCADA database and historian tier, including clustering, archival, retention, replication, and data integrity.
- Maintain OPC connectivity and the plant-to-historian data path, troubleshooting OT pipeline connectivity, performance, and data-quality issues.
- Design, build, and operate hybrid-cloud and on-premises infrastructure across datacenters and colocations with Systems Engineering, DevOps, Controls, OT, and cloud/data teams.
- Design resilient multi-site and islanded architectures, failover, capacity planning, backups, tested restores, and disaster recovery for industrial workloads.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging, and create as-built documentation, runbooks, and infrastructure standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of systems or infrastructure engineering experience.
- Experience with server virtualization using VMware, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, enterprise storage, core networking, and OT/IT segmentation.
- Strong knowledge of high availability, distributed datacenters, colocation, backup and restore validation, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell or Python, and competency with AI tools for troubleshooting, automation, and documentation.
- Ability to respond to occasional after-hours production emergencies and travel up to 10%, including occasional international travel.
- Experience administering highly available SCADA infrastructure and SCADA/historian database architectures, including clustering, proxy or load-balancing tiers, replication, archival, retention, store-and-forward, backup, and licensing.
