Sr. Optical Test Engineer (Photonics)

Location: Onsite in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Salary: $110,000–$133,000 CAD per year, flexible; additional compensation may include an annual bonus, equity, and health and welfare benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement optical test and verification strategies for transitioning products from design into full-scale production.
• Characterize optical parameters of components and subsystems using electrical and optical test and measurement equipment.
• Apply advanced data analysis methods to identify insights, solve technical challenges, and improve optical designs.
• Integrate AI tools into test and characterization workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Develop scalable, well-documented automated test solutions and validate products using Agile methodologies.
• Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to align product requirements.

Requirements

• Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant product development experience involving optical components, photonics, or telecommunications systems.
• Experience designing or testing optical components and subsystems for optical communications.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and optical test and measurement equipment, including devices under test and test equipment.
• Software development proficiency, including experience with Python, Flutter, Dart, VB.NET, or C#; familiarity with development packages and frameworks.
• Familiarity with Agile software development tools and version control systems such as Git.
