TL;DR
Field Applications Engineer (Industrial Automation): Deploying and supporting Copia’s DeviceLink and Source Control solutions in discrete manufacturing and material-handling environments with an accent on PLC automation, OT networking, and customer enablement. Focus on securing OT networks, troubleshooting complex software, hardware, and network issues, and leading technical pilots and deployments for industrial customers.

Location: Remote, with a hybrid workplace model and up to 25% travel for on-site customer support. The team is remote throughout North America. Strong preference and higher pay are given to candidates in, or willing to relocate to, the NYC metropolitan area; relocation assistance is provided.

Salary: $105,000–$125,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Coordinate post-sales deployments of DeviceLink and Source Control, ensuring reliable integration and performance.
  • Support key customer accounts through troubleshooting, optimization, technical assistance, and ongoing enablement.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to deliver custom integrations using PLC automation expertise.
  • Develop OT network security best practices and help customers protect data and code access.
  • Lead customer training sessions and provide technical support through phone, email, chat, and on-site visits.
  • Lead and support pre-sales pilots, coordinating technical proofs of value across Customer Experience, Sales, and Product teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across software, hardware, and network components.
  • Extensive experience with PLCs, industrial automation systems, industrial protocols, and standards.
  • 5+ years of hands-on OT networking experience, including the Purdue model or related OT network architectures and network security principles.
  • Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language, such as SQL or Python.
  • At least 2 years of project management experience on complex projects or deployments.

Nice to have

  • PLC programming and networking experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, CODESYS, Omron, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff, Fanuc, or similar vendors.
  • Experience with FTP, SCP, sFTP, or comparable industrial file-transfer protocols.
  • Previous deployment of cloud-based products to OT environments.
