TL;DR
Propulsion Senior Engineer – Pressure & Fluid Systems (Spacecraft Propulsion): Owning the end-to-end execution of bipropellant feed, pressure control, and fluid systems from requirements definition through flight readiness with an accent on COPVs, valves, regulators, manifolds, filters, and system integration. Focus on fluid-system modeling and simulation, component sizing, qualification testing, supplier coordination, and maintaining safety, cost, and schedule targets.

Location: Houston, United States; office environment with inside or outside work depending on the task

Company

hirify.global develops commercial human spaceflight services, advanced spacesuits, and Axiom Station, a commercial space station designed to support sustained human presence in space.

What you will do

  • Own the end-to-end technical execution of spacecraft pressure control and fluid systems, including COPVs, valves, regulators, manifolds, filters, and instrumentation.
  • Provide technical authority for propellant feed and pressurization system architecture, component selection, and interface definition.
  • Model, analyze, and simulate fluid-system performance, fluid dynamics, thermal effects, and transient behavior using GFSSP, ANSYS, and Fluent.
  • Size and select components, define system and component-level development, qualification, and acceptance tests, and validate analytical models against test data.
  • Lead design reviews, trade studies, integration activities, and technical coordination with external vendors and suppliers.
  • Control interfaces with structures, thermal, avionics, and software teams while delivering against safety, cost, schedule, and flight-readiness targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated depth in pressure control and fluid systems design.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, qualifying, and integrating propellant feed systems, including COPVs, valves, regulators, filters, manifolds, and instrumentation.
  • Expertise in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, propulsion systems, and oxygen compatibility assessments.
  • Experience coordinating vendor technical requirements, design verification, cost, and schedule performance; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
  • Must complete a U.S. government background investigation and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency.

Culture & Benefits

  • Mission-driven work focused on commercial space infrastructure, human spaceflight, and microgravity research.
  • Inclusive environment built around leadership, innovation, teamwork, accountability, and ownership.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams and external suppliers.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required to meet critical project milestones.
  • Work may involve extended periods of sitting or standing and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
