Propulsion Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco; in-office five days per week is essential

Salary: $115K–$145K per year

What you will do

• Develop propulsion system concepts and evaluate design trade-offs with system-level impacts in mind.
• Complete detailed designs and support structural, thermal, and fluid analyses.
• Present design reviews and gather feedback from stakeholders.
• Assemble prototypes, design complementary tooling, and establish work instructions.
• Conduct hardware tests, collect and analyze data, and verify requirements and performance metrics.
• Diagnose hardware issues and determine corrective actions.

Requirements

• Hands-on club, project, or internship experience with fluidic, mechanical, or propulsion systems.
• Proficiency in solid, surface, and sheet-metal CAD modeling using Siemens NX.
• Exposure to manufacturing processes, precision measurement, and GD&T.
• Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and turbomachinery.
• Exposure to data acquisition, instrumentation, and power electronics.
• Strong attention to detail, quality focus, continuous improvement, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
