Senior Chemical Propulsion Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, United States. U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.

Salary: $142,000–$192,000 annual base salary, excluding additional benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and test mono- and bi-propellant chemical propulsion systems.
• Define propulsion system architecture, product specifications, and Technical Performance Metrics.
• Design and build propulsion infrastructure and test facilities.
• Develop qualification and acceptance test plans and support testing activities.
• Integrate propulsion systems with electrical, thermal, and structural subsystems.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing anomalies, lead investigations, support design for manufacturability, and interface with customers and suppliers.

Requirements

• U.S. Person status required for access to export-controlled data.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, propulsion, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of propulsion design and test experience.
• Experience with mono- and bi-propellant chemical propulsion systems and pressurized-system testing.
• Experience designing fluidic systems, instrumentation, and control components such as tanks, regulators, pressure transducers, thermocouples, and solenoid valves.
• Experience with CAD software, including NX or SolidWorks, and clean-environment manufacturing under AS9100 protocols.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in mechanical, propulsion, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience operating leak, burst, and proof-test facilities.
• Experience leading hot-fire test campaigns involving ground-test power and fluid delivery systems, data acquisition, thrust stands, and plume diagnostics.
• Experience with chemical propulsion operations in space.
