TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Aerospace Communications) (PCBAs/FSO): Developing and delivering electronics for next-generation land, sea, air, and space optical communication terminals and support systems with an accent on PCBA design, mixed-signal circuitry, integration, and testing. Focus on designing custom boards, debugging prototypes, creating wiring and cable assemblies, and validating electronics for deployment in challenging environments.

Location: Hybrid in Livermore, California, United States. The role involves travel and work in a broad range of deployment environments. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility without export authorization, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining the necessary export authorization.

Company

hirify.global develops laser communications technology and temporospatial software-defined networking platforms for aerospace, satellite, airborne, cislunar, and deep-space communication networks.

  • Up to 3 years of electrical engineering experience in embedded systems for industrial applications.
  • Experience with the full circuit-board design lifecycle, including circuit design, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, and manufacturing.
  • Experience using ECAD design software such as KiCad or Altium and debugging prototype PCBAs.
  • Familiarity with laboratory fundamentals, electronic test equipment, power analysis, design for manufacture, and new product introduction.
  • Must satisfy U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for access to controlled information.

Nice to have

  • 3–6 years of experience designing electronics for industrial, aerospace, or military applications.
  • Experience with high-speed digital circuitry at 2.5 Gbps or higher, analog and mixed-signal design, and EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Experience with hand soldering, board-level validation, wire and cable design, and integration into larger assemblies.
  • Familiarity with Git, Linux, embedded C, and RF or optical link budgets.
  • Ability to present and explain personally created schematics and PCB layouts during the interview process.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on aerospace communications technology and critical national security programs.
  • Collaborative, supportive, and inclusive workplace.
  • Professional development and advancement opportunities.
