TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Aerospace) (PCBA/Power Electronics): Designing and releasing flight-worthy PCB assemblies, actuators, controls, and monitoring systems for the ES-30 hybrid-electric regional aircraft with an accent on high-reliability mixed-signal design, power conversion up to 900 V DC, and high-speed digital interfaces. Focus on schematic capture, constraint-driven layout, worst-case analysis, DO-160/DO-254 compliance, and validation of safety-critical electronics through production release.

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States

Base pay range: $113,000–$216,000 USD per year

Company

Developing the ES-30, a 30-passenger regional hybrid-electric aircraft targeting type certification by the end of the decade.

What you will do

  • Architect and design high-reliability, mixed-signal, and power-conversion PCB assemblies for flight-critical applications up to 900 V DC.
  • Own schematic capture, component selection, constraint-driven layout, design-rule enforcement, and manufacturing release using Altium Designer or an equivalent ECAD tool.
  • Perform design reviews, simulations, signal and power integrity analysis, DFMEA, thermal analysis, and EMC assessments against DO-160 and DO-254 requirements.
  • Lead electronics bring-up and validation, including test-plan authoring and development of Python, Rust, and C test scripts.
  • Coordinate with software and mechanical engineers on integrated subsystems, board outlines, connectors, and build schedules.
  • Improve electronics development workflows through automated checks, stronger version control, and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional PCBA design and new product introduction experience in safety-critical or aerospace products.
  • Ownership of at least one product from concept through volume production.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer or an equivalent ECAD tool.
  • Experience with Ethernet, power electronics up to kilowatt levels, and CAN, ARINC-429, SPI, and I²C interfaces.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, VNAs, thermal chambers, and debugging EMI/EMC issues.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.

Nice to have

  • Experience certifying electronics for Part 23/25 aircraft or eVTOL platforms.
  • Working knowledge of DO-160, DO-254, IPC-2221/2222, and IPC-7351.
  • Knowledge of motor-drive control or battery-management circuitry.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on the transition of hybrid-electric aircraft electronics from prototype to production.
  • Collaborate closely across electrical, software, and mechanical engineering disciplines.
  • Develop systems intended for flight-critical aerospace applications.
