Lead Mechanical Engineer, Structures (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Hawthorne, California, United States

Salary: $150,000–$169,000 per year

What you will do

• Define best practices for structures design, analysis, and testing with leadership and design counterparts.
• Design mechanical and thermal platforms at the architectural level.
• Build tools and infrastructure that improve engineering and company efficiency.
• Set team priorities and manage progress across program phases.
• Develop, train, and mentor structures engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field.
• 5+ years of design experience at an aerospace company.
• Experience with structural design principles, finite element analysis, and structural test design.
• Experience developing hardware according to space-industry design standards and best practices.
• Experience leading a team through a design program from start to finish.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers, contractors, and interns.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD degree in a STEM-related field.
• Experience working to schedule targets in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with NASA technical standards for design, analysis, and testing.
• Experience with structural dynamics and thermal analysis methods and tools.
