Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Hawthorne, California; onsite

Salary: $123,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and analyze mechanical systems at full-system and subsystem levels using simulation methods and experimental test data.
• Collaborate with the engineering design team to evolve the mechanical design of the lunar rover.
• Define component requirements based on lunar operational constraints.
• Select flight hardware and develop build flows for integrating hardware into the vehicle.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate and qualify mechanical subsystems for flight with internal and external test facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field.
• At least 2 years of mechanical systems engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD software for part modeling and development.
• Experience with finite element modeling and analysis software.
• Experience with design for manufacturing and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a STEM-related field.
• Experience engineering structures, mechanisms, and actuators.
• Experience planning and executing flight hardware development programs from the ground up.
• Experience specifying and executing hardware qualification and acceptance testing.
• Ability to mentor junior mechanical engineers.
