Principal Cloud Architect (GCP)

Location: Hybrid, based out of the Wilmington, Massachusetts headquarters; travel up to 25% may be required

Base salary: $180,000–$247,500 per year, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Define and govern the enterprise cloud architecture strategy, standards, and multi-year roadmap on Google Cloud Platform.
• Architect provisioning, networking, and data platforms that scale to hundreds or thousands of instances and petabyte-scale daily data volumes.
• Lead the migration of more than 100 environments to GCP and deliver greenfield Kubernetes-based platforms with GKE.
• Build self-service platform capabilities with golden paths, resource-pool provisioning, guardrails, validation, and visibility controls.
• Partner with security teams on workload isolation, disaster recovery, backups, snapshots, and cloud cost optimization.
• Drive CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, AI-powered engineering, architecture reviews, mentoring, and executive technology alignment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 12 years of experience designing and implementing enterprise and cloud architectures, including a large-scale migration or modernization personally led.
• At least 5 years in a Principal Architect, Lead Architect, or equivalent senior technical leadership role.
• Deep GCP expertise, including GKE, resource hierarchy, IAM, VPC design, and data services; equivalent AWS or Azure depth must include the ability to lead on GCP.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes, containers, microservices, distributed systems, APIs, Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps.
• Experience with platform engineering, CI/CD, DevOps, cloud security, observability, disaster recovery, backup strategies, FinOps, executive communication, and architecture governance.

Nice to have

• Experience with hybrid cloud or edge platforms connecting on-premises, industrial, or robotics environments to the cloud.
• Background in robotics, manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, or physical-world automation.
• Experience with AI/ML platforms, generative AI developer tooling, or petabyte-scale data platforms.
• Relevant certifications such as Google Professional Cloud Architect, CKA, or CKS, or experience with TOGAF.
