Salary: $100,000–$145,000 USD per year

Designs and manufactures electric aircraft and the electric engines that propel them, with a mission to advance sustainable electric aviation.

What you will do

  • Define safety and certification standards for novel electric propulsion systems with regulatory agencies.
  • Lead certification from certification-basis development through compliance planning and certification testing.
  • Plan, build, and manage certification artifacts, activities, and timelines across internal teams and the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with certification engineers, FAA designees, systems engineers, and design engineers to provide safety and certification feedback.
  • Interact with the FAA and foreign regulators using clear communication and diplomacy.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of aerospace certification experience working with the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • Expertise in type certification program planning, FAA Order 8110.4C, 14 CFR Part 21, propulsion systems, and stakeholder negotiation.
  • BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity with Google G-Suite, Slack, Ansys, MS Visio, KiCad, and solid-modeling tools such as Onshape, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
  • Experience with certification activities and communication with regulatory authorities.

Nice to have

  • Propulsion certification experience involving 14 CFR Part 33.
  • Experience with 14 CFR Parts 21, 23, 27, 33, 35, or 36 and means-of-compliance approaches.
  • Expertise in application lifecycle management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Jama, or Jira.
  • Experience with ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-160, DO-178, and MOC test generation and execution.
