Staff Electrical Engineer (Testing)

Location: Onsite at the office in Pleasanton, California, United States. Travel up to 10% domestically or internationally. U.S. Person status or applicable export-control authorization is required.

Base salary: $163,431–$234,350 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead a growing team responsible for testing and debugging complex circuits combining FPGAs, MCUs, mixed-signal electronics, precision analog, and photonics devices.
• Collaborate with physicists and electrical, mechanical, software, and optical engineers to create verification procedures for next-generation quantum instruments.
• Define design-for-test and design-for-manufacturing improvements with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Create and oversee environmental, EMI, and EMC test plans, including execution at external facilities and optimization of test protocols.
• Use laboratory test equipment to characterize and verify electronic performance.
• Define equipment and software for automated production data systems, while mentoring early-career engineers.

Requirements

• BSEE or MSEE combined with leadership experience testing precision instruments and/or sensors.
• Experience developing testing protocols, specifying equipment, writing automation scripts, and documenting procedures.
• Proficiency with oscilloscopes, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, function generators, and digital voltmeters.
• Experience with post-test data analysis, test-result organization, data retention, and documentation.
• Ability to design test loads, cabling, and custom verification equipment; read schematics and datasheets; and define expected measurement ranges.
• Must be eligible to work with U.S.-controlled technology as a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or through applicable authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience with PCB layout tools, particularly Altium.
• Experience writing test firmware for embedded MCUs and MCU-based PCBs.
• AS9100 compliance experience.
• Environmental testing experience for space electronics, including radiation effects.
