Electrical Engineer - PL (Quantum Computing Hardware)

Location: Hybrid role based in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota or Plymouth, Minnesota; employees are expected to work at their assigned location, with remote work possible only with approval.

Salary: $113,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Lay out masks for next-generation ion traps in collaboration with design and fabrication scientists.
• Apply sound layout practices across cross-functional design activities.
• Work with external foundries to align designs and tape-outs with PDKs and fabrication best practices.
• Prepare layouts for delivery to mask shops.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree minimum.
• At least 5 years of IC or MEMS layout experience using Cadence Virtuoso from initial design through tape-out.
• Must be a U.S. Person: a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or a worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.
• Experience with integrated circuit layout and simulation, PDK insertion and use, tape-outs, and mask-shop delivery.
• Experience with external foundries, Linux, cross-functional R&D work, or MEMS layout tools is valuable.

Nice to have

• Degree in electrical engineering or physics.
• Familiarity with SKILL scripting, auto-routing, Tanner L-Edit, K-Layout, or similar tools.
• Experience laying out photonics components.
