Lead ADAS Design Release Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; four days per week in the office, with one flexible day. Regular in-person meetings, events, and occasional travel are required.

Salary: $140,000–$170,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Design, test, and sign off the ADAS compute platform, covering hardware layout through software configuration management.
• Define ECU requirements with international teams and integrate the ADAS module into the vehicle E/E architecture and platform.
• Develop and align software release plans with ADAS feature owners and whole-vehicle release management.
• Flash, test, and validate ADAS ECUs from early development through production.
• Manage release activities for ADAS cameras and associated mounting hardware.
• Track ADAS technology, regulatory, and industry developments to support continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of ADAS development or component release experience in the automotive industry.
• In-depth knowledge of compute platform development, including PCB layout, mechanical ECU design, and diagnostics.
• Experience with software configuration and release management.
• Familiarity with CAN, LIN, and Ethernet, plus tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, JIRA, and Confluence.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and independent working skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ISO 26262, SAE J3016, and FMVSS, including FMEA and FMEDA safety analyses.
• Experience with the VW Group in automated driving or ADAS.
• Fluency in German.
