TL;DR
Mission Architect (Cybersecurity): Translating complex cyber operations workflows, constraints, and edge cases into product requirements, acceptance criteria, and high-fidelity user experiences with an accent on operational realism, usability, and domain-specific decision-making. Focus on designing evaluation scenarios, validating end-to-end workflows, and shaping AI/ML-powered and knowledge graph product experiences for practitioners.

Location: On-site in Arlington, Virginia, United States; limited to U.S. citizens

Base salary: $137,000–$203,000 annually. Estimated total compensation: $149,000–$240,000, including target bonus and estimated equity value.

What you will do

  • Translate complex operational workflows, decision points, and constraints into product requirements and build-ready user stories.
  • Partner with Product Managers, engineers, designers, and researchers to shape PRDs, scope, workflows, and information architecture.
  • Define acceptance criteria and validate features through realistic end-to-end scenarios, benchmark workflows, and operational testing.
  • Review releases for usability issues, workflow gaps, edge cases, and alignment with real practitioner needs.
  • Serve as the primary domain expert for the product team and support customer conversations and demonstrations.
  • Identify emerging user needs, use cases, and deployment opportunities that inform product direction.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on practitioner experience in cyber operations, intelligence analysis, capability acquisition, or a comparable domain.
  • Strong credibility with practitioners and trusted judgment in high-stakes operational work.
  • Experience translating operational workflows into structured requirements, user stories, or other build-ready documentation.
  • Experience shaping user-facing tools, workflows, or interfaces used in real operational environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across technical, operational, and executive audiences.
  • U.S. citizenship is required; some products may require eligibility for an active U.S. Government security clearance and work in a controlled environment.

Nice to have

  • Transition from a practitioner role into product development, requirements engineering, or capability development.
  • Experience with AI/ML-powered products, including agentic systems, LLM-based workflows, or knowledge graph applications.
  • Experience in evaluation design, operational test and evaluation, scenario-based assessment, scoring rubrics, or benchmark frameworks.
  • Experience creating training content, reference materials, or doctrine for operational users.
  • Experience influencing product direction at a software company serving government or defense customers.
