Senior/Staff Simulation Integration Engineer (ROS2)

Location: Onsite five days a week in Santa Clara, California, United States

Salary: $170,000–$240,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and maintain ROS2 middleware layers in C++ and Python for connecting AI models with simulated sensor data and control commands.
• Build dynamic testing scenarios involving traffic interactions, pedestrian behavior, triggered events, and adversarial agent behaviors.
• Configure and tune simulated LiDAR, camera, radar, and IMU sensor suites for realistic data streams.
• Collaborate on streaming simulation states and success/failure metrics to a web-based dashboard.
• Run headless simulations in Docker containers for automated, large-scale cloud testing.
• Manage ROS2 message serialization with MCAP and bag files for analysis and playback.

Requirements

• Expertise with ROS2, including node composition, custom message types, and QoS configuration.
• High proficiency in Python and modern C++.
• Experience with at least one major simulator, such as CARLA, Gazebo, NVIDIA Isaac Sim, or SVL.
• Experience with event-driven scenario logic and adversarial agent behaviors in simulated environments.
• Strong Ubuntu/Linux and Docker experience for containerizing robotics stacks.
• Ability to debug timing and synchronization issues between a simulator and a distributed ROS2 stack.

Nice to have

• Experience with automated testing frameworks for robotics.
• Understanding of TF2 coordinate frames and spatial transformations.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for automated simulation runs.
