TL;DR
Electrical Engineer II, Power Systems (Space Systems): Designing, analyzing, testing, and integrating spacecraft electrical power systems including solar arrays, batteries, and power distribution units with an accent on reliability, radiation analysis, and environmental qualification. Focus on developing EGSE and hardware-in-the-loop testing, performing system design trades, and solving power-system risks for complex space missions.

Location: Fully onsite at the GravityWorks factory in Centennial, Colorado, or Long Beach, California. The role requires authorization to work with U.S. export-controlled space technology under ITAR.

Base salary: $90,000–$135,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Design and analyze spacecraft electrical power systems, including solar arrays, batteries, and power distribution units.
  • Model, simulate, and analyze on-orbit power generation and storage.
  • Create and review specifications, interface control drawings, test procedures, and design review materials.
  • Perform system design trades and radiation, reliability, and failure mode and effects analyses.
  • Develop electrical ground support equipment and hardware-in-the-loop systems for power-system testing and validation.
  • Support EMI/EMC, thermal-vacuum, vibration, and other environmental testing while collaborating with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • At least two years of electrical or space systems engineering experience.
  • Understanding of spacecraft power-system design, analysis, and subsystems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations for ITAR-controlled technology.

Nice to have

  • Extensive test experience.
  • Experience deploying systems in geostationary orbit.
  • Ability to maintain or obtain TS//SCI clearance.
