Electrical Power Flight Hardware Design Engineer – Distribution and Control (Space Power Systems): Designing, testing, and integrating electrical power distribution and control systems for commercial human spaceflight modules with an accent on voltage conversion, isolation, conditioning, and fault protection. Focus on creating verification systems, managing supplier interfaces, and solving integration challenges across spacecraft subsystems.

Location: Houston, United States. Generally an office environment, with inside or outside work depending on the task.

What you will do

  • Contribute to system-level requirements for spacecraft electrical power systems.
  • Design electrical power distribution hardware for voltage conversion, isolation, conditioning, and fault protection.
  • Develop integration and test plans and create test systems to verify and validate power distribution equipment.
  • Contribute to interface control documents connecting power distribution hardware with other spacecraft subsystems.
  • Work with suppliers to select, procure, and evaluate components and systems, including recovery strategies for supplier issues.
  • Support design, manufacturing, test, and operations milestone reviews while communicating progress and risks to stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7 or more years of experience in power system design, integration, and test.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic load banks, power supplies, and power analyzers.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when required to meet critical project milestones.
