Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Boston, United States; hybrid workplace

Salary: $85,000–$115,000 per year, base salary only, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and release mechanical components and assemblies for autonomous aircraft, including structures, enclosures, mounts, actuation systems, and integration hardware.
• Own mechanical product development from concept generation and CAD modeling through prototyping, testing, design iteration, and production release.
• Perform structural, thermal, vibration, and tolerance analyses to validate designs and ensure reliability.
• Collaborate with avionics, electrical, software, systems, manufacturing, and flight test teams to integrate hardware into aircraft platforms.
• Create drawings, bills of materials, test plans, validation reports, and manufacturing instructions.
• Support prototype builds, ground and flight testing, supplier activities, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience in aerospace, autonomous systems, robotics, automotive, defense, or another high-performance hardware industry.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Siemens NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar software.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for dynamic or mission-critical environments and applying stress, thermal, vibration, and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with prototype development, hardware integration and testing, aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, design for manufacturability, and configuration control.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship or visa transfer, now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous aircraft, UAVs, eVTOL, robotics, or flight hardware development.
• Hands-on mechatronics experience.
• Familiarity with FAA certification environments, aerospace standards, or regulated development processes.
