TL;DR
Test Technician (Nuclear Hardware): Setting up, instrumenting, operating, and tearing down mechanical, structural, thermal, fluid, and vacuum hardware tests with an accent on test execution, data acquisition, and hardware troubleshooting. Focus on installing instrumentation, operating fluid systems and DAQ equipment, identifying off-nominal behavior, and maintaining safe, calibrated test infrastructure.

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States

Salary: $30.00–$60.00 per hour

What you will do

  • Set up test articles, fixtures, and test stands for mechanical, structural, thermal, fluid, and vacuum testing.
  • Install and route instrumentation, including strain gauges, thermocouples, RTDs, pressure transducers, load cells, and accelerometers.
  • Operate test equipment and data acquisition systems, execute procedures, and accurately record results.
  • Operate fluid systems for proof, leak, and functional tests while troubleshooting hardware, instrumentation, and test setups.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment, track calibration schedules, and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Support post-test inspections, data hand-off, teardown, fixture fabrication, and safe organization of the test area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 4+ years of hands-on test, integration, or hardware experience in aerospace, hard tech, automotive, industrial, or military environments.
  • Ability to read and execute test procedures, engineering drawings, and fluid/electrical schematics.
  • Hands-on experience installing instrumentation and using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and work in a fast-paced, safety-first development environment.
  • Ability to stand, lift, and carry equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and work required shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.

Nice to have

  • Light fabrication experience, including tube bending, harnessing, and precision mechanical assembly.
  • Vacuum systems experience.
  • Exposure to test conductor or console operations.
  • Radiation or hazardous-operations experience.
