Engineer, IID Switches Design Responsible Engineer (DRE) (Automotive)

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office with regular in-person meetings and occasional travel.

Salary: $110,000–$135,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Own the electrical hardware design and release of switches and switch modules from concept through virtual development, testing, sign-off, and manufacturing launch.
• Develop technical specifications with Studio, Concept, Purchasing, and Finance teams to support quoting and sourcing.
• Manage suppliers to meet cost, timing, quality, robustness, and performance targets.
• Develop electrical design verification and validation plans and coordinate virtual and physical testing.
• Define switch-module interfaces for vehicle electrical architecture, power distribution, grounding, diagnostics, and network communications.
• Collaborate with software and systems teams on switch logic, diagnostics, fault handling, safety compliance, and consumer-focused improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, combined electrical/mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience with electromechanical components, switch design, and automotive product development through design, testing, and launch.
• Technical expertise in human-machine interfaces, switches, electromechanical systems, switch haptics, and mechanical design.
• Knowledge of diagnostics, DTCs, switch fault handling, vehicle EE architecture, and CAE.
• Experience with industrial design studio and CMF requirements, light and color harmony, and Six Sigma engineering problem-solving.
• Ability to work from the Novi, Michigan office 4–5 days per week and travel for company events when required.
