Principal Consultant (Public Sector)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; expected to work in the office 4–5 days per week. U.S. citizenship is required for candidates considered for public sector roles. Willingness to travel up to 20% annually is required.

Salary: $100,000–$225,000 USD base salary per year, plus a possible government clearance differential and discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead post-sales software implementation projects across the full project lifecycle.
• Define business processes and technical requirements with public sector customers.
• Design, develop, and implement custom hirify.global applications and AI solutions.
• Launch relational data models in production and build integrations using REST, SOAP, JDBC, and web services.
• Develop AI use cases using retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and generative models.
• Partner with architects, technical delivery managers, client technical teams, and business users while mentoring consultants and enabling clients to build applications independently.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on software development or technical consulting experience.
• B.S. or B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.
• U.S. citizenship required for public sector consideration.
• Experience leading teams through post-sale software implementations and mentoring or developing others.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming, relational databases, data modeling, SQL, software testing, continuous integration, and API integrations.
• Availability for in-office work in McLean 4–5 days per week and travel of up to 20% annually.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, analytics, machine learning, application integration, developer tools, management and governance, or elastic containers.
