Product Applications Engineer (NCG 2026)

Location: Onsite in San Jose, California, United States. US work authorization required; immediate availability is required.

Salary: $140,000–$150,000 per year, dependent on education level.

What you will do

• Support customer bring-up, feature enablement, validation, and issue triage for Leo CXL Smart Memory Controllers.
• Develop, validate, and debug embedded firmware in C and Python across PCIe/CXL and DDR memory subsystems.
• Validate DDR4/DDR5 interfaces, including initialization, training, RAS features, and performance tuning.
• Develop Python-based test scripts, automation frameworks, and diagnostic tools for validation and customer debugging.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, systems, and product management teams to deliver releases and customer collateral.
• Create application notes, release notes, design guides, and other technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Proficiency in C for embedded firmware development in RTOS environments and Python for scripting, test automation, and diagnostic tooling.
• Experience with firmware bring-up, debugging, and validation of memory or I/O subsystems on server platforms.
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills for complex embedded systems.
• Familiarity with DDR controllers, PCIe controllers, on-chip memory subsystems, Git or similar source-control workflows, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong technical writing skills for internal and customer-facing documentation.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of CXL 1.1/2.0/3.0, including memory expansion, pooling, and sharing.
• Experience with PCIe endpoint firmware, enumeration, MSI/MSI-X, SR-IOV, and error handling.
• Knowledge of DDR4/DDR5 training, timing margins, ECC/RAS features, and server memory performance optimization.
• Experience with PCIe/CXL protocol analyzers, BERT, and laboratory debugging equipment.
• Customer-facing or field applications experience in a semiconductor or systems company.
