Location: Irvine, California, United States; office-based role

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 USD annually

What you will do

  • Develop, architect, and maintain reliable, fault-tolerant embedded software for satellite modules and payloads.
  • Lead and mentor junior software engineers and serve as technical lead for multiple satellite programs.
  • Define and refine software requirements with cross-functional engineering teams and represent the company in technical working groups and customer interactions.
  • Create unit tests using Test Driven Development and automate system-level testing.
  • Build software for imagers, image processors, communication devices, and astronomical science instruments.
  • Integrate and test software in simulation, flight-replica, flight-vehicle, and hardware-in-the-loop environments; travel to customer or vendor sites up to 10%.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience developing C/C++ applications for embedded, high-performance, or mission-critical systems.
  • Experience with bare-metal and/or RTOS-based designs, including FreeRTOS, internal schedulers, or embedded Linux.
  • Deep understanding of microcontroller architectures, peripheral subsystems, low-level interfaces, and serial protocols such as CAN, RS-232/422/485, I2C, SPI, and PCI.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, hardware debuggers, and other embedded test equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, autonomy, responsibility, and thoroughness.
  • Must be a U.S. Person or lawful permanent resident, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations; a security clearance or eligibility may be required.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience may substitute.
  • Experience with ARM and Texas Instruments platforms, Linux, GNU toolchains, Bash, and Python.
  • Knowledge of build pipelines, deployment processes, on-target testing, and SOLID design principles.
