Firmware Test Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: Torrance, California, United States

Salary: $145,500–$204,000 USD per year, base salary only; equity grants are also included in the total compensation package.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for drone and ground control software.
• Build and enhance automated testing frameworks and supporting tools.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.
• Monitor test results and maintain build stability before releases.
• Ensure comprehensive test coverage and enforce testing best practices.
• Create and maintain documentation for test cases, test plans, and test results.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software testing experience focused on embedded systems and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Hands-on experience building and setting up HIL test systems.
• Strong scripting and development skills with Python or another scripting language for test automation.
• Familiarity with embedded communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and Ethernet.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI or Jenkins.
• Experience using Git development workflows and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with C/C++.
• Experience with Bazel, CMake, Make, or another embedded build system.
• Experience testing RF products.
• Experience with FPV drone software such as Betaflight, ExpressLRS, PX4, or ArduPilot.
