Location: Los Angeles, United States. Applicants must meet U.S. Government export-control requirements: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required authorization.
Salary: $150,000–$220,000 per year plus equity. Senior level: $150,000–$185,000; Staff level: $180,000–$220,000.

is a Series C clean-energy startup developing mass-producible, inherently safe microreactors for terrestrial, underwater, and space applications.
What you will do
- Define and maintain the electrical requirements baseline for reactor instrumentation and control systems, including functional, performance, safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.
- Develop hardware and software interface control documents covering signals, timing, protocols, power, grounding, failure states, and subsystem integration.
- Lead I&C design FMEA activities, calculate risk priority numbers, and drive high-risk failure modes through testing and mitigation to closure.
- Create validation and qualification plans, including test setups, instrumentation, test cases, and measurable pass/fail criteria, and support bench and testbed execution.
- Support licensing documentation, safety analyses, site certification of non-listed components, and utility grid-interconnection studies.
- Translate customer load, power-quality, redundancy, interface, and data requirements into specified and verifiable system requirements while coordinating with controls software and hardware teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in electrical or I&C systems engineering, including ownership of requirements through verification.
- Experience writing decomposed, verifiable requirements with measurable acceptance criteria.
- Experience leading FMEA or equivalent reliability analysis and converting findings into test and mitigation plans.
- Experience creating validation and qualification plans, maintaining cross-organizational interface control documents, and working with test teams.
- Experience delivering hardware under a formal quality program such as NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, AS9100, IEC 61508, or a comparable standard.
Nice to have
- Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, medical-device, or another regulated environment.
- Experience with nuclear I&C standards, NRC or DOE licensing submissions, and regulator responses.
- Experience with NRTL field evaluation, non-listed equipment, functional safety, SIL analysis, or common-cause and single-failure analysis.
- Familiarity with DOORS, Jama, Polarion, Cameo/SysML, human factors, alarm management, NUREG-0711, or ISA 18.2.
