Product Design Engineer (AI Hardware)

What you will do

• Lead mechanical design of enclosures, structural components, flex assemblies, and interconnects from concept through production.
• Translate industrial design concepts into precise, reliable, and manufacturable engineering solutions.
• Own specifications, tolerances, materials, and 3D CAD for injection molding, die casting, stamping, and CNC machining.
• Drive DFM and DFA with manufacturing partners through concept development and production builds.
• Use tolerance analysis, FEA, and DOE to validate designs and resolve failure modes before assembly.
• Build functional prototypes and collaborate with industrial design, electrical, acoustic, reliability, operations, suppliers, and contract manufacturers, including onsite factory support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, product design engineering, or a similar discipline.
• 7+ years of experience shipping consumer hardware from concept to mass production.
• Deep proficiency in mechanical CAD, preferably NX, along with GD&T, tolerance analysis, dimensional management, and JMP.
• Hands-on prototyping experience and experience working with external partners.
• Experience designing for high-volume manufacturing, including injection molding, die casting, stamping, and CNC machining.
• Ability to balance mechanical, electrical, industrial design, thermal, human factors, reliability, cost, and aesthetic trade-offs at the system level.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in mechanical engineering, product design engineering, mechatronics engineering, or a similar field.
• Experience with new product architecture and leading the shipment of first-generation devices.
• Experience with in-field failure analysis and integration of microphones, cameras, displays, and audio modules.
