Staff Mechanical Engineer (Minerals Processing)

Location: Houston, TX, United States; on-site

Salary: $140K–$175K estimated base salary, based on experience, location, and other factors; equity offered.

What you will do

• Design, specify, integrate, and deploy mechanical systems and equipment for a minerals-processing pilot plant.
• Translate process requirements into practical mechanical and plant designs with process engineers.
• Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of pumps, piping, reactors, separators, filtration systems, and material-handling equipment.
• Develop equipment specifications, layout drawings, piping schematics, and CAD models.
• Improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and operational performance.
• Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and contractors while supporting hazard reviews, safety design, and mechanical integrity programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 9+ years of experience in operations, process scale-up, or plant design in minerals processing, chemicals, specialty materials, oil and gas, or related industries.
• Experience driving equipment design, commissioning, operations, and reliability.
• Experience with furnaces, pumps and fluid-handling systems, pressure vessels and reactors, piping systems and valves, filtration and separation equipment, and material-handling systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, technical writing, communication, and teamwork skills in hands-on plant environments.
• Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance and mechanical integrity standards; willingness to work on-site in Houston.
