Mechanical Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: On-site in Austin, TX; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Seattle, WA

Salary: $208,000 – $263,000 per year

What you will do

• Engineer mechanical utilities for behind-the-meter plants, including fuel gas, water, and compressed air systems.
• Design balance-of-plant generation systems, ensuring they are sized, routed, and specified for fast construction and long-term reliability.
• Integrate utilities across campus sites, combining generation, data center, and site systems into a unified mechanical design.
• Manage vendor and EPC interfaces, reviewing packages, identifying gaps, and resolving field questions.

Requirements

• Proven experience engineering balance-of-plant or utility systems for power generation or heavy industry.
• Expertise in designing fuel gas systems and knowledge of governing codes.
• Ability to integrate packaged equipment into functioning plant environments.
• Strong technical review skills, including identifying interface gaps, tie-ins, and capacity constraints.
• Must have authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with gas turbine or reciprocating plant balance-of-plant systems.
• Depth in NFPA 54 and 56 standards.
• Experience with water, compressed air, and nitrogen systems.
