TL;DR
Product Quality & Test Reliability Engineer (Photonics): Building reliability qualification and test infrastructure for silicon photonics ICs, lasers, and optoelectronic SiPs used in high-speed optical networks with an accent on failure analysis, reliability modeling, and supplier quality. Focus on designing accelerated life tests, solving complex photonics degradation and root-cause challenges, and transferring qualified products into volume production.

hirify.global is a well-funded startup developing photonics infrastructure, optical interconnects, and photonic engines for AI supercomputing and high-performance computing.

What you will do

  • Drive reliability execution for silicon photonics ICs, DFB and continuous-wave lasers, and optoelectronic SiPs used in high-speed optical networks.
  • Provide early reliability input to R&D and design engineering throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Define and execute qualification plans based on Telcordia/GR-468, JEDEC, MIL-STD, and other telecom and datacom standards.
  • Conduct accelerated life testing, failure analysis, degradation modeling, and root-cause investigations.
  • Lead supplier qualification, audits, capability assessments, and supplier quality metrics for critical photonics components.
  • Develop Design for Reliability methodologies and prepare technical reviews, reliability reports, and risk assessments.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent photonics reliability engineering experience.
  • Direct experience with silicon photonics, laser technologies, optical transceivers, photonics device physics, packaging, and failure mechanisms.
  • Experience supporting NPI programs and product qualification from concept through volume production.
  • Knowledge of GR-468, Telcordia, JEDEC, and MIL-STD standards.
  • Experience with reliability modeling and statistical analysis, including Weibull and Arrhenius methods, using JMP, Minitab, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with HTOL, HAST, temperature/humidity, thermal cycling, and failure-analysis tools such as SEM, FIB, X-ray, and spectroscopy.

Nice to have

  • Experience in integrated photonics packaging and optical-electrical co-design.
  • Familiarity with wafer-level reliability and optical wafer probing.
  • Experience working with Tier-1 datacenter customers or hyperscalers.
